AI post-editing (AIPE) is a localization service in which a machine produces the first draft and professional linguists review and correct it.
LCP Localizations offers AIPE as a separate service and uses AI only at the client's request.
When AIPE is recommended
- Low-budget games, or games with little creative text.
- Secondary markets: regions a studio wants to serve that generate limited revenue.
- Hybrid projects: lore, dialogue, flavor text and marketing receive full localization, and menus, hotfix notes and other non-creative text go through AIPE.
When full localization is the better choice
Creative text depends on tone, humor, character voice and cultural references. For story-driven games, marketing copy and any text that shapes how players perceive the game, full translation, editing and proofreading remains the recommended approach.
How AIPE works
AIPE projects use the same team model as full localization: a brief with the developers, linguists selected for the game's genre, a glossary and translation memory, and automated QA before delivery. The difference is the starting point: linguists edit AI output instead of translating from scratch. In-game localization QA can be added as for any other project.
Pricing
AIPE is priced per word, at a lower rate than full translation. There are no minimum fees or project management fees. More on how game localization is priced.
